Fellowships – What They Are & Who Can Enrol
What is a Fellowship?
Fellowships are international groups affiliated with Rotary that bring together individuals who share a common interest, vocation or recreational activity. These groups foster friendship, networking, shared learning and global connection—while enhancing the Rotary experience.
Who Can Join?
Membership is open to anyone with a genuine interest in the activity or vocation of the fellowship. Rotary International+1
Typically fellowships are open to (but not strictly limited to):
Rotarians
Rotaractors
Spouses or family members of Rotarians/Rotaractors
Alumni or participants of Rotary programmes (in many cases) swanrotary.org.au+1
Important Clarification: While being a Rotarian or associated with a Rotary club helps, you do not always have to be a full Rotarian to join a fellowship. The key requirement is passion for the common interest and willingness to engage. For example, some clubs mention “Rotarians and non-Rotarians may connect” through fellowships.
How It Works
You explore the list of recognised fellowships via Rotary International’s website and reach out to the group of your choice.
The fellowship will have its own membership criteria, sometimes dues, internal governance. Ri sets general guidelines but each group runs independently.
Activities may include local meetings, international/virtual gatherings, service-projects linked to the fellowship’s theme, networking events, etc.
Fellowships at RBSP — Your Local Gateway to Global Networks
What You Get with RBSP & Fellowships
Global Network + Local Presence: Via your connection with RBSP and Rotary’s international reach, engage with fellowship groups all over the world.
Shared Interest + Service Overlay: Whether your interest is in healthcare, environment, sport, culture or technology, you’ll find a fellowship plus opportunities to channel that interest into service — aligning with RBSP’s commitment to meaningful community impact.
Skill & Profile Boost: Being part of a fellowship gives you exposure beyond your club — cross-border networking, subject matter depth, leadership chances, and a unique “member of interest-group” identity.
Friendship & Fellowship: One of the best aspects: the fun, the camaraderie, friendships across regions and cultures.
Pathway for Non-Rotarians: If you’re not yet a Rotarian but align with our mission at RBSP, joining a fellowship is a great step toward deeper Rotary engagement.
How RBSP Supports You
We will highlight fellowship opportunities during club meetings and via our communication channels.
We assist you to identify the right fellowship aligned with your interest, and facilitate initial contact.
For interested members, RBSP may organise interest-group meetups or local chapters of global fellowships.
If you’re a non-Rotarian but enthusiastic, RBSP can guide you: explore a fellowship first, engage with us, see how the Rotary family works, and possibly transition into full membership when you’re ready.
How to Enrol
Browse the list of themes/interests and choose a fellowship that speaks to you.
Contact the fellowship via the link or email provided on their page.
Let RBSP know your interest — we’ll support the connection and help integrate you into club activities aligned with the fellowship.
Once engaged, you’ll participate in fellowship meetings, projects, networking and perhaps even host/attend events.
